Some of our KS4 students work towards the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award. There are four sections to the bronze award which include: volunteering, physical, skills and expedition. This year the students will be taking part in the following activities to complete their award:
Volunteering section: The DofE group have begun organising whole school events to raise money for Children in Need and Comic Relief.
Physical: The DofE group will be developing various new skills during PE lessons.
Skills section: The DofE group have been attending the Helly Hanson Water Sports Centre in Salford Quays to develop skills in kayaking and canoeing. They will also be completing a first aid training programme within school to develop their first aid skills.
Expedition: The DofE group will be completing two expeditions at Rivington Pike and Hollingworth Lake where they will walk during the day and camp overnight. The group have begun to practice tent building and improving their fitness for this section.
